Building 8' canoe model

Woke up to 20 below O today. Holy cow that's cold.
This time of year things can go very slow and canoes take time to dry, well the fillers and glues and paint ,varnish all take time to dry.
We gained 38 min of daylight so all this will help if the suns out.
Still in the winter for a month or so. I can almost hear the song birds and smell the spring air.

Well I went out to the shop today and found my steamer froze-up pretty bad. Most of the time i keep the pellet stove on during the night.
Well the stove ran out of pellets and the shop was froze right up in good shape. If you look in one of the pictures you will see my hand holding a chunk of ICE.

One to road island red canvas.
One clear model to FL.
One to NY.
One to CT.
Its been cold the last two days. I have the pellet stove working hard.

This week we will be finishing up a few models for customers, one goes to New Hampshire and we also donated a canoe to the

Well it seems that we had a run on canoe seats last few weeks.
So this gives us a little extra work for a few nights. All seats will be hand caned with natural cane. hole by hole, this all takes time.

Well here we go, A few days back I built a new canoe form that will allow us to build a "BRAND NEW CANOE MODEL" this model will be added to our website and be ready for ordering soon, I hope all goes well with this little model.. This will be a test model, after its built and removed from the building form we will know what its going to look like. If need be we will have to remove all the metal clinching bands and re-work the form to alter the form.. time will tell. Keep an eye out.

We finished off the 8 foot canvas canoe and will be sending it off to its new home in CT or NY. Not sure yet. Today I will be working on a few 5 foot clear models and planking up one more 5 footer for our new fish canvas. Something new I came up with for the future. Check out the website..
